App Review

Since having the iPads at the library I have discovered there are quite a few apps that I really enjoy using in storytime.  Right now Don't Let the Pigeon Run This App by Disney is a big hit.

The kids scream with excitement when we create our own story and then have it read to us.  Depending on how many children our in storytime I either let them take turns selecting the image on the screen or they stay seated and as a group shout out which item to select.  This app is really cool, before the story begins the Bus Driver comes out and tells the kids he needs some help selecting items before they read the story.  There's all sorts of crazy things to select.  Before the Bus Driver leaves he tells the kids if they see the pigeon they have to shake him to read the story.  The kids go wild when they see the pigeon on the screen.

This is a great interactive story to be used in storytime or just to have at home.
